Loneliness is something that we all go through at some point in our lives. I used to battle with feelings of loneliness to the extent that I would feel lonely even in a room full of people. Loneliness originates from various factors like lack of attention; lack of real relationships and fear of the future. The truth however is that no matter how many friends you have and how many genuine relationships you have you are still lonely when tragedy hits you. These words from a song by the Bee Gees captures the feeling of surviving a tragedy. “Tragedy..When the feeling’s gone and you can’t go on It’s tragedy.. When the morning cries and you don’t know why It’s hard to bear With no-one to love you you’re Goin’ nowhere. Tragedy.. When you lose control and you got no soul It’s tragedy When the morning cries and you don’t know why It’s hard to bear With no-one beside you you’re Goin’ nowhere..” I remember breaking down and crying every time I woke up for a period of several days after my mother passed away. In my life the tragedy of my mother’s untimely death drove me to the very edge and eventually pushed me closer to the other person I leaned on next to my mother. I encountered God in the midst of this storm. But my journey with God began long back when I was just a little boy. I am reminded of The Life of Pi when I think about my journey with God.. Here is this little boy searching for God wherever he could find him until his search led him to have an encounter with God in the midst of a shipwreck, alone on a survival boat in the most challenging of circumstances. Yes its true that it hurts even now to think about it but after all the pain and heartbreak i’ve been through I can still say that its all been worth it because I found Him after all.. Today I’m a happily married man with a doting wife. (This song was written a year before my marriage) But Jesus continues to be my first love.. This song is a tribute to that incomparable love..
